FAQ

DO I HAVE TO BE A PSYCHIATRIST TO DELIVER BABY LOVE?

No. Training is designed and has been delivered to personnel from many different disciplines: nurses, social workers, child and youth workers, early childhood educators, paediatricians, psychologists, psychiatrists, etc.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE TRAINING?

The first stage (classroom training) takes three to five days and depends on how much experience you and your group have with attachment theory and with running groups or individual interventions. The second stage (supervision) occurs when you have begun to deliver the intervention either to individuals or to groups. We recommend that you run the longer form of the intervention at least once (12 sessions) so that you feel familiar with all the content. That means you would have once per week supervision for one hour for those 12 sessions. The brief version is designed to be run over the course of about 7 sessions. We also recommend that you have supervision for running the intervention at least twice. Our intention is to help you be feel comfortable running Baby Love.

WHO IS BABY LOVE FOR?

Baby Love is for caregivers who can be mothers but may also be fathers, grandmothers, nannies, daycare personnel, etc.

HOW DO I GET MOTHERS AND BABIES TO JOIN THE GROUPS OR BEGIN A SET OF INDIVIDUAL SESSIONS?

Different centres have used different techniques and strategies. Some suggest that caregivers join especially if they seem to be struggling or feel isolated and want some support from leaders and from other mothers. Some Centres have put up posters advertising the groups. Some have had a leader make a presentation to their caregivers to inform them.

HOW MUCH DOES TRAINING COST?

We are willing to negotiate costs depending on your Centre’s ability to pay.
